“Is there an easier way for me to track my Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits?” wonders Dr. Aki
Joint, a member of the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA). “There is a new Royal College Maintenance of Certification Program with a new portal, but I am not sure how to use it. What do I do?”
Logging in
When logging in (royalcollege.ca/mymoc), authenticate yourself using an email-based multi-factor authentication. This will enable entry into all the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) resources. There are no separate logins for My MOC, Accreditation, Royal College dues, etc. anymore.
Dashboard
Click on My MOC and it will take you to the Main Dashboard (Figure 1). There you can see an overview of annual and 5-year cycle requirements, including the number of credits achieved for Sections 1, 2, and 3 (Figure 2). On the left side panel, you can review specific activities, drafts and log new activities (Figure 3). This can easily be done on your web browser on your computer, tablet or phone, making it easier to record CPD activities while participating in them (Figures 4 and 5). There are reports that can be downloaded including Credit Summaries, Yearly MOC Adherence Reports, Transcript of CPD Activities, and MOC Cycle Completion Certificates (Figure 6). These may be useful for hospital privileges or dealings with your Provincial College.
Logging activities
On the left side of the panel, you can log new activities (Figure 4). Choose the applicable section, then enter the activity details, such as type of activity, hours of participation, date, key messages learned, reflections and add any relevant documentation, such as the conference participation certificate.
“Using the Portal regularly will make using MyMOC easier,” exclaims Dr. Aki Joint. “If I keep track of sessions and document my learning, I can save a draft or directly submit my CPD-related activities. If I need help, I can contact the Royal College office or review the helpful My MOC resources online. That will make the upcoming changes in January 2027 easier to manage, and not be a struggle for me to remember what I did and what I learned.”
